Kelly, the Protector

I have a favorite story about Kelly.  Living in Pahrump gives one some unique circumstances.  I was a neighbor of Kelly's growing up and after graduating college I was one of his teachers as my first four years of teaching were at PVHS.

One day a very large student stood up at the back of the classroom.  He said, "Miss Raetz, you try to make me do that and I will just pick you up and throw you out that window."  I was tiny then and he could have easily picked me up and tossed me.  But no......   Kelly stood up at the other end of the classroom and said, "You lay one finger on her and that will be the last person you touch."  The other student sat down and closed his mouth. I never had another lick of trouble from that student.  As a beginning teacher I was blessed to have students who knew who I was and had my back.  I have never forgotten what Kelly did as my protector that day.  Kelly -- always kind and caring.  Thank you.
